Promotions and New Dancers

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced the following promotions to take effect from the end of the 2000-09 season.

Jamie Bond, Natasha Oughtred, Gaylene Cummerfield and Carol Anne Millar are promoted from First Soloists to Principals

Joseph Caley and Alexander Campbell are promoted from Soloists to First Soloists

Celine Gittens and Tom Rogers are promoted from Artists to First Artists

In addition, Jade Heusen from Elmhurst School for Dance, and Benjamin Soerel from The Royal Ballet School will join as Artists.

Finally Principal Dancer Dominic Antonucci has been appointed Ballet Master.

Having seen most of the company's programmes over the past few years, none of the promotions come as a surprise. I am particularly delighted to see Natasha Oughtred getting the reward she so richly deserves for a series of outstanding performances. The Royal Ballet's loss is defintely Birmingham's gain.
